In My personal assessment of psychological in the unit 3 assignment, I rated myself with a score of 8 and I think I have improved to a score of 9 in this area; In the area of physical, I rated myself a score of 7 and I have dropped to a 5 due to problems with my feet and then surgery, but as I continue to heal I will return to normal physical activity; and in the area of spiritual well-being, I had scored myself a 10 and I am still at a 10 or higher because my spiritual activity is what keeps me going. I have tremendous faith in what I do and what I strive to accomplished and through this course I have gain more knowledge and wisdom to keep me focused and mental and spiritually cleansed. My score has changed in one area lower than I wanted it to be, but it is due to complication of my feet and surgery; but as I stated I will continue to heal my foot and then later add some physical activity again. And in the other two areas my scores haved increased.
I have made some progress in the spiritual and psychological well-being, which have helped my gain a better aspect of my life and my overall health. I have mentally and physically able to help others be spiritually and psychologically fit by encouraging the patients or clients on the proper use of visualization and meditation and also how to be emotionally and mentally fit to live a healthy lifestyle.
I have implemented the activities for my well-being in all three areas and the only area that has not been totally completed is my physical aspect and that is only due to foot problems which lead to surgery. But in all of the other areas I have exercise all the aciivites and will continue to exercise them; such as I wll continue to use the meditation techniques, visualiztion and the subtle mind techniques and I am also going to try the Yogi or the Tai chi.
I have learned a great deal through this course that has helped me tremendously and I will continue to use this knowledge and I will share them with my family, friends and co-workers. The different ways to have a healthy mind/body/spirit through this course has really helped me so much I just can't even imagine myself without having this knowledge of knowing how we as human flourish. The loving-kindness really helped my see things in my life that I didn't know or I just for got about how to be happy and stress free. I have really enjoyed interacting with my fellow classmate through the discussion board, but especially through the Blog, which I thought I would not be able to do completely, but i was afraid because I had not done a blog before, but with the help of my classmate and Professor, I did it and If I must say I did great. I am now able to help others work through their problems or what they think is problems and help them handle them in a more logical and stress free way.

Personal Application Unit 9 Project
Carolyn Carter
HW420-03
Unit 9: Personal Application of the Psychological and Spiritual Aspect of Healing-Project
I Introduction:
It is important for a health and wellness professional to develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically, in order to obtain and secure the trust of their clients. If you are not psychologically fit in the mind, spiritually fit in your soul and physically fit in your body aspect, how can we give advice to someone else on these aspects? We as health and wellness professional should continue to educate ourselves to be able to further educate and help our clients psychologically, spiritually and physically. The area that I myself need to develop more on is being more physically fit in order to help myself and my client’s to live a healthy lifestyle.
II Assessment:
Through out this course I have assessed my overall health and I think that my score in the spiritual aspect is high, because I have always considered myself to be very spiritual from early childhood and I have always use the meditation techniques that my grand-parents and parents used as I was growing up and it has help me a lot. With my physical aspect, I would score it at a medium level, because there is some need for improvement in my exercise routine; and now that I have had surgery done in the past week on my feet that was hindering me from doing a lot of exercise that cause for movement of the foot and legs. But now I was be able to do more aerobic or walking exercise that will get me back into the active phase of physical activity again. And psychologically, this course has helped me out a lot; it has helped me to develop a habit of focusing on a positive aspect instead of stressing out of the negative. The meditation and the visualization techniques have really helped me to expand my mind and focus on the bigger picture. I think my score would be at a higher level in this aspect.
III Goal development:
Physical-my goal is to improve and continue to add more activities in my exercise routine and implement a healthy diet along with the exercise program. Psychological (mental health)-my goal is to continue to use the Loving-kindness and the visualization techniques to keep my mind focus and cleanse from any negativity. A healthy mind-body-spirit is the key to a healthy outcome. Spiritual-my goal is to continue to develop my spiritual aspect through meditation and visualization to help me stay focus spiritually and to have a healthy spirit to give off a positive atmosphere to my clients and friends so that I may share my techniques with them.
IV Practices for personal health:
Physical-I can plan out a healthy diet meal preparation along with a vigorous workout three to four days a week. Psychological-I will revisit the loving-kindness and the subtle mind techniques. Spiritual- I will use the meditation along with my Bible studying to enhance the logic behind the journey of the chapters that I will be focused on. I will implement these tasks by; exercising daily along with a nutritious meal. And I will continue to use the loving-kindness technique because it was one of the most effect techniques for me. And I will also implement yoga and tai chi and a relaxation technique to help with getting a clear grasp of the mind and body connection.
V Commitment:
I will assess my progress by keeping track for the next six to eight months in a journal that I am keep to evaluate my progress to see the changes that I have made and will continue to make throughout my life cycle; because progress is a long lasting process that will continue through out my life if I want to stay healthy in my mind-body, and spirit. So I will keep a journal of my progress and what I need to stay focus and on track. The strategies that I can use to assist me with maintaining my long-term practices for health and wellness is sticking to my plan for a healthy diet and three to four days of physical activity and this will provide a good regime to sustain a healthy outcome of my goals of succeeding at continue health and wellness for my mind-body, and spirit.

Optimal Wellness-Unit 8 xercise
The two exercse that I chose from our practices that I think really helped me was the Lovingkindness and the Visualization techniques. They really helped me to open my mind and my heart to experience new things that was helpful for me psychological, physically and spiritually. I espcially like the lovingkindness and I will continue to implement it in my daily routine and I also have started to share it with my friends and co-worker to help them through some dfficult siuations that they are dealing with on their jobs and in their personal lives; and some of them really took it serious and began the practice for a few mintues and saw a big diffierence that ha occur for them (they like it and will keep trying it). But I will also continue to use the Lovingkindness and the Visualization so that I can continue to share with my clients and family members as well. I love the idea of training the mind to acheive a healthy mind-body and spirit.

Unit 7 Exercise: Meeting Asciepius
Wow, this is a wonderful exercise, my body just wants to totally relax and let go of all the pain I have been going through this week. I really enjoyed this exercise and I will try to incorporate it into my daily routine with my morning bible study time. Oh listening to the ocean made me think that I was in California again; we used to live near the ocean and at night we would open the windows and get the cool breeze that would come in from the ocean; where we used to live you did not need a air condition at night, the cool breeze from the ocean kept the room nice and cool all the time at night.
Meditation has increased my psychological and spiritual wellness, by allowing me to focus on a postive and productive outcome in life. I think now before I react and that helps me to stay with a good attitude and a pleasant spirit. Every morning I meditate on several Bible versus, so that I can keep my spirits uplifted through out the whole day and they bible versus also helps me psychologically by implmenting positive thougths so that I can give off a positive dispositon to our clients so that they may have their spirits and mind in a pleasant mood also. I can apply these practices in my life for greater health and wellness by meditating and cleansing the mind-body and spirits to achieve a positive outcome toward a better and heathier lifestyle.
"One cannot lead another where one has not gone himself". To me this saying means that I can not tell someone to exercise daily to be healthy; if I am not doing it myself. If they look at me and say you don't look like you exercise at all, so what can I say to explain the reason that i don't exercise if I don't have a severe medical problem that prevent me from doing so. So it best to practice what you preach; If I tell someone to read several Bible versus aday, it' okay because I do read several versus through out the day. We as professiona do have an obligation to develop our health psychologically, physically, and spiritually; we have to be ft totally mind-body-spirit in order to address all the needs of ourself and of our patients. I can implement psychological growth by training the mind on positive thoughts through meditation, yoga or tai chi, and spiritually I can also meditate with bible versus, which is my favorite and also meditate on the exercise of the Lovingkindness CD we had several weeks ago, it was great also.

Unit 6 Integral Assessment
The Universal kindness meditation exercise was great and uplifting to me . I focused for 10 minutes on trying to heal someone or some people who may have been suffering and that they need some help to find a way out of their situations. It was awesome to do and to bring your mind-body-spirit on the focus of others instead of yourself, and I felt great about and I also felt that it worked for someone. The Integral assessment was great it let me know the areas that I need to improve or to continue to strive to make it more of a success for my life. With the psychospiritual, biological, interpersonal and worldly; I only need to improve my biological aspect, because I need to stick to a physical fitness routine to stay active to maintain a normal weight for my body frame and also to be more active on my job as well. So this exercise did help me realize that I need to continue to focus on being active in order to stay healthy.

Subtle Mind Exercise
Wow, that exercise was totally different from the lovingkindness exercise, I don't know if it was me or my computerm but I think it was the CD. But maybe it's points was to distract our thoughts and if that was point it succeed; it took me total over track for a while because I thought the CD was defective and as I went on through the end it was still the same, but I took my focus off the CD and back to my focal point and then I began to calm myself and cleanse my mind in the process. The lovingkindness exercise I think was a better exercise for me to gain a clear mind-set and energy for the day.

Loving-Kindness Unit 4 Exercise
Wow, this would be the perfect exercse for me if I had the time to implment it correctly. Trying to do this exercise started out really nice, I got my mind and body focused on a person that is dear to my heart and brought her close to me, because she is going to have surgery soon and I want to continue to present positive thoughts to guide her through this process and I got a very good vivie from it; but I thought that my husband was asleep and he kept coming in and asking questions or checking to see if I needed any help. He is so helpful, but it was hard telling him that I just needed time to focus on this exercise. But with the hours that work and time for class work is another distraction that keeps me off track from focusing and a timeframe to continue this exercise. But I have to reorganize some things in order for this exercise to true work for me and I have t take control of my health and wellness before I can give advice to anyone else. But overall it seem to be a great exercise to develop a spirit of loving-kindness to ourselves and to one another.
Mental workout: To me mental workout is cleansing the mind totally from all the negativity and unwanted stressors in our life, and if we can do that we will come to the awareness of being mentally free.

Reflections exercise unit 3
1. Based on your reflections, and on a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being optimal wellbeing), where do you rate your A-physical wellbeing, B-spiritual well-being, C-psycological well-being? why?
A: My physical well-being is at a 7 because I try to implement some form of exercise in my daily routine, even if it is only fifteen or thirty minutes a day; every little bit counts and it keep me focus for the ten hour shift that I work everday while going to school. B: My spiritual well-being is at 10, because I have such a high level of spiritual comment and devotion to God and his word that everyday before I start my day I pray, read my bible versus and thank God for everything that he has help me to overcome and accomplish through out my life. And C: my psychological well-being, I would say is a 8, because I have learn through my courses at Kaplan University how to deal with things that would psychologically would keep me distracted and would even make me doubt what I am trying to accomplish, but I have learned a great deal of strategies that has really help me.
2. Develop a goal for yoursef in each area (physical, spiritual, psychological).
Physical: My goal is to add more time for exercising and eating a healthy diet to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Spiritual: My goal is to continue to pray, meditate on God's words and use them to help me stay focus on the task at hand. Psychological: My goal is to continue to use meditation and relaxation techniques along with prayer to keep my mind clear and free from stress, anxiety and depression.
3. What activities or exercise can you implement in your life to assist in moving toward each goal?
I can use meditation, relaxation techniques, and a exercise plan on a daily basis to assist me toward accomplishing my goals in the areas of physical, spiritual and psychological. I can also implement a healthy diet with exercise to help achieve these goals also.
4. Complete the relaxation exercise The crime of the Century.
This exercise to me was not as affecting like the exercise we did in the previous unit; I started to nodd off and lost focus. I guess I was too tired or it was just not the right exercise for me. But I did as the voice said and I did not get the results like I did in the unit 2 exercise and I was more tired then for that exercise then I was for this one. Well may be next time.

Reflective Statement
Wow, after listening to the journey to relaxation technique, I feel so totally relaxed and full of energy. I drove 480 miles to visit my family for easter and after all the good eating and enjoying family and friends, the drive back I felt so tired and my feet was hurting; but I knew I had to do my class work and I started listening to the tape and doing what was mention like taking off my shoes and putting on loose clothing and just relax my whole body and I thought I was going into a trans or I had to catch myself because I thought I was being hypnotised, and I had to laugh because all the pain I had from the drive was gone and now I am totally free from pain in my head and feet because the blood felt like it was flowing so smoothly through my body. So this technique really helped me and I will use it to relax from all of the stressors in my daily life

Totally Relaxed
Before doing the journey to relaxation technique, I was very tired, I'd just got in from a long trip home to Louisiana for the Easter holiday; and I drove 480 mile tomy hometown and drove back this morning,so i was very tired when I got in but I knew I still had to do my blog exercise, so I listened to the relxation exercise and I feel so wonderful and totally relaxed. Wow I thought I was going to go into a trans or be hypnotised because I was tired, my feet was hurting and I had a slight head ache; but after I listened to it and did as I was told, my body just went into a total relax mode and now I feel like I can run, jog, and even clean the house all in one day. Wow it really relaxed my mind and body. I will start using this technique more often, especially when I get ready to take the Exam. I always stress when I take an Exam; but now I'm ready for it. The journey to relaxation technique really helped me today.
